About

NSW ECMO service

The NSW ECMO retrieval service is a collaboration between Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and NSW ambulance service to provide access to extracorporeal life support (ECLS) to critically ill patients throughout New South Wales.

The service provides clinical consultation, initiation of ECLS on site at referring hospitals and retrieval and ongoing care of ECLS patients at the St. Vincent’s and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals.

The service commenced over ten years ago and is one of the oldest and longest running ECLS retrieval services in the world. The NSW ECMO retrieval service has extensive experience of road and aeromedical retrieval within Sydney, the state of NSW, nationally and internationally.
